Arsenal in advance talks to sign Spain star Mikel Merino

The Gunners have received positive feedback so far.
Arsenal are now progressing in talks for the signing of midfielder Mikel Merino and have entered a crucial stage of the transfer.
The Gunners’ summer transfer window started slowly. But Mikel Arteta and his staff are putting in work behind the scenes to launch a surprise attack on the market.
The Gunners might have to offload midfielder Emile Smith Rowe to pave the way for Merino’s move to North London.
Following encouraging initial discussions, Arsenal are getting ready to move forward in negotiations. The next phase in discussions with Real Sociedad midfielder Merino’s camp is expected to be in the coming week. Arteta loves the Spanish international. The Gunners can move forward as soon as Smith Rowe leaves.
Riccardo Calafiori, who travelled to England to undertake an Arsenal medical, is very close to joining. Given that Arsenal have demonstrated that they are willing to sign players of any age, Merino happens to be the next player on Mikel Arteta’s recruiting team’s list.
Merino, 28, will soon be past his prime in the coming seasons. But it’s obvious that Arteta wants to add players who can have an instant influence on the senior team. Bringing in strong reinforcements will be essential since the North London team will be vying for the Premier League crown once more.
The Gunners will want to add a body in the middle of the park. Smith Rowe hasn’t contributed much in that region under Arteta lately. Merino could be a wise choice to replace him. He has the necessary experience to take the Gunners’ performance to the next level in order to contend for the league title.
Merino’s stocks have risen ever since he scored the winning goal against Germany in the Euro 2024 quarterfinal. He will be a valuable addition to Arsenal and will be hoping to build a partnership with Declan Rice & Martin Odegaard in the middle of the pitch.
