The Gunners had their six players on the scoresheet.

Arsenal didn’t appear to be lacking a striker when the Gunners demolished PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. This was by far the club’s most dominant performance this season, despite their struggles in the Premier League.

However, their Champions League win last night will aid the club in bringing back their confidence in the league as they hope to challenge Liverpool for the title.

In the first leg of their last-16 match, Mikel Arteta’s team scored an incredible seven goals against their Dutch opponents. The Gunners’ 7-1 victory made them the only away club in Champions League history to score seven or more goals away from home in a knockout stage match.

The Gunners, who have appeared poor in front of the net this season due to striker shortage with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus injured, showed they can still get the job done with a team performance. There were six different players on the score sheet against PSV last night.

The North London team controlled the game in the first leg, scoring goals through the efforts of Jurrien Timber, Ethan Nwaneri, Mikel Merino, Martin Odegaard, Leandro Trossard and Riccardo Calafiori.

This means Arsenal seem to have already confirmed their place in the quarter-final and could face either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid, unless PSV put an incredible performance in the returning leg, which will be held at Emirates.

“Massive performance, proud of the guys we showed we are capable of a lot and put ourselves in a good position for next week,” Timber said to Amazon Prime after the game.

Declan Rice added: “We were fluid, enthusiasm, the drive and hunger in the knock out phase of the Champions League. But we’ve been playing like this all season.”

The Gunners’ next Premier League matchup is against Manchester United, and on March 12, they play the return leg against PSV.
