Arsenal handed brutal Martin Odegaard injury update

The midfielder has sustained a serious knee injury.
According to a former Norwegian national team physician, Martin Odegaard may be sidelined for a long time. If that ends up being true, it would be devastating news for Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta.
After only 30 minutes of his team’s match against West Ham United over the weekend, the captain of Arsenal was substituted out due to a “knee-on-knee” collision with Crysencio Summerville.
After leaving the Emirates wearing a brace, the attacking midfielder’s left knee was found to have sustained a medial collateral ligament injury, according to an MRI.
Doctor gives worrying Odegaard injury update

Lars Engebretsen, the former doctor for the Norwegian national team, has cautioned that Martin Odegaard’s absence from play might be up to two months. Arsenal, however, did not indicate how long the injury is expected to last.
Engebretsen told Scandinavian paper Dagbladet: “I don’t have information about exactly what the MRI showed but based on the injury video, it could be a lateral ligament injury.”
“If it is such an injury, Odegaard risks being out for six to eight weeks but it depends on the size. It could also be a more extensive injury, cruciate ligaments maybe. In that case, the period on the sidelines could be longer.”
The 26-year-old became the first player to be pulled before halftime in three straight games when he was substituted over the weekend, setting an unpleasant Premier League record.
He was previously forced off against Leeds United and Nottingham Forest due to a persistent shoulder issue.
Following his team’s 2-0 victory over the Hammers, Arteta disclosed that the Norwegian himself worries his most recent setback may be more severe than those he has experienced in the past.
“I just spoke to him, he’s not positive about it. He’s got a brace on,” the Spaniard said.
“We’ll have to wait and see from the doctors, but we haven’t been very lucky with that either. We haven’t had him since the start of the season for one reason or the other. The shoulder twice and then this injury.”
