The Gunners will take on Man City in a match which could decide their Premier League title chase.

It will be difficult for Bukayo Saka to demonstrate his fitness in time for Arsenal’s crucial Premier League trip to Manchester City on Sunday.

Due to an Achilles injury, the England international has not played for Arsenal since their 2-0 loss to City in the Carabao Cup final on March 22.

Although Saka is reportedly making every effort to get back on the field as soon as possible, the condition—which is believed to be Achilles tendinopathy—is delicate. If he recovers too abruptly, Arsenal run the risk of losing him for the rest of the season.

He has not yet been ruled out from playing this weekend. But in order to have a chance, he must advance and resume training in the upcoming days.

Mikel Arteta said on Tuesday: “It’s something that he was carrying for a while. It was an Achilles issue. It’s progression but hopefully it’s going to be a matter of days and not weeks. But he has to see when the load is more how he responds to that kind of progression.”

In the second half of the match against Sporting CP, Saka’s deputy Noni Madueke was also pulled out due to a knee problem. However, there was cautious optimism that the 24-year-old escaped injury. He did not go to the tunnel for treatment and instead finished the team’s lap of gratitude.

Following his recent injury, sources close to left-back Riccardo Calafiori have suggested that he may make a comeback versus City.
