Arteta issues Arsenal injury update ahead of Liverpool Premier League clash

The Gunners are currently five points clear at the top of the table.
Riccardo Calafiori will not play in Arsenal’s important match tonight against Liverpool, Mikel Arteta confirmed, as the Gunners get ready for the crucial game.
Since the Gunners’ Carabao Cup victory against Crystal Palace prior to Christmas, the defender has not featured for the team.
Calafiori has not played three games, and Mikel Arteta has revealed that he won’t be available for Liverpool’s visit to Emirates Stadium tonight.
Cristhian Mosquera, who sustained an ankle injury against Brentford at the beginning of December, will also be absent for Arsenal.
Mosquera has not yet resumed training, and Arteta stated at the time that the centre-back would miss “weeks” of action.
Arteta responds to Calafiori and Mosquera’s availability

Arteta responded, “No,” when asked if they had access to Calafiori and Mosquera. When asked when they will be fit again, the Arsenal manager responded, “I think pretty soon.”
“They have to go the last stage of the rehab. Hopefully very soon they’ll be available for selection.”
Kai Havertz injury update
Other than those injury problems, Arsenal’s attacking options have been strengthened by returning stars.
It was a load decision from management rather than a setback in Kai Havertz’s recuperation from a knee injury that prevented him from playing against Bournemouth on Saturday.
“We are keeping an eye on things,” Arteta stated, whose team now leads the Premier League by five points following a 1-1 draw between Manchester City and Brighton. He has been absent for a considerable amount of time. He trained again this morning, and he’s extremely close.
“We are monitoring obviously his load, he has been out for a long time for two different reasons and he is very close,” Mikel said.
“He trained this morning again and hopefully we are going to have him available in the best version of Kai Havertz.”
Arteta praises Piero Hincapie

Mikel has been “very impressed” with Piero Hincapie, who joined on deadline day from Bayer Leverkusen.
“Obviously he came in very, very late in the market, without pre-season, and after surgery as well,” Mikel assessed. “He’s been immense for everything that we ask him to do; he’s fulfilled that in various roles as well.
“I think it’s been a big boost for the team and another step in terms of what he can bring to the team.”
