Mikel Arteta wants to add another wide forward to his squad
Arsenal’s transfer window is still not complete as they are hoping to add a player to their attacking line and are lining up a move for Kingsley Coman, reports suggest. Mikel Arteta wants to add the forward as he needs a player in wider attacking areas.
He feels Coman will be a perfect player for that position and Bayern Munich are ready to sell the player who has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, particularly Al-Hilal.
But now another option has emerged for Coman as Gunners are plotting a move for the player heading into the final hours of the window.
However, convincing him to come to north London will be crucial given the wages the forward will receive from the Saudi club. He currently earns in the region of £300,000 per week at Bayern.
The former Juventus forward has three years left on his contract and there is doubt if the Gunners will be able to match his salary given the riches on offer in Saudi.
But the Mikel Arteta side will offer the former PSG player the elite-level football which will allow him to compete in the Premier League and Champions League in his prime years.
Arsenal currently have Gabriel Martinelli and Leonardo Trossard for the wider roles on the left wing but the Brazilian has suffered a dip in form while Belgium has often been used as a substitute.
Coman’s addition will be an upgrade for Arteta given the 28-year-old is excellent in one-on-one situations and causes big damage to the opposition with his pace. His acquisition will also allow Martinelli to fight for the first spot and there will be healthy competition.
But Coman will have to make a big decision on his future as he still has some years left to play at a high level and at Arsenal he will be a key figure given how Arteta has changed the fortunes of the club.
Arsenal are once again the favourites to win the title and maybe Coman’s addition will upgrade their attack will cause all sorts of troubles for the opposition’s defence.
