The midfielder has not played football in two years.

Paul Pogba’s much-awaited AS Monaco debut has now been further delayed for two weeks after the midfielder was hit with an injury blow during training.

Paul Pogba, a former midfielder for Manchester United and Juventus, will have to wait patiently to play again. The match appears to have come too soon for Monaco, who had intended to welcome the Frenchman back to action this weekend against Angers.

Paul Pogba served a ban after testing positive for drugs while playing for Juventus, and he hasn’t played in over two years. After it was decided that his offence was not intentional, the penalty was lowered on appeal.

He relocated to Monaco before the 2025–2026 season after getting signed by the Ligue 1 club.

“We expected him to be available for the next match. That is no longer the case,” Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro told reporters (as translated by GFFN).

“Paul had a small problem last week that will cost us at least two more weeks.

“It is the first negative episode that we have had since we started the process with him. Given how long he has been out of activity, it can happen. It isn’t the end of the world; we have just postponed for two weeks to prepare him better. We hope to have him available soon.”

After missing the Qatar 2022 World Cup due to injury, there had been some optimism that the 2018 World Cup winner might put himself into contention for the 2026 event with a return to form. However, he has yet to make his debut more than two months into the season.

Following the Angers encounter, there was optimism that Pogba would be able to play against Tottenham in Monaco’s upcoming Champions League meeting. However, it is anticipated that Paul Pogba’s injury has now ruled him out for the Tottenham and Toulouse matches.

Meanwhile, after losing 4-1 away to Club Brugge on matchday one in the UCL, AS Monaco drew with Manchester City.

Which injury has Pogba suffered?

He sustained a muscle injury during training last week.

How long will he be out?

He is expected to be out for more two weeks.

How many games will he miss?

He will miss the Angers, Tottenham and Toulouse games. So three more in total.
