The Belgian could be open to continuing playing in the Premier League.

Aston Villa have reportedly discussed a possible move for Kevin De Bruyne internally, according to Sky Sports.

Earlier this month, De Bruyne declared that this season would be his final one at Etihad Stadium. The 33-year-old midfielder’s current deal is in its last year, and Aston Villa may be interested in signing him as a free agent when he leaves City.

Several Premier League clubs have taken notice of De Bruyne’s unwillingness to move away from his family and his preference for football and his home life when deciding where to go next.

Four Major League Soccer teams have inquired about De Bruyne’s financial and professional expectations: Chicago Fire, NYCFC, D.C. United, and Inter Miami, who own his discovery rights.

Additionally, Serie A side Como are also interested in the potential of acquiring De Bruyne. After ten trophy-filled years at Man City, De Bruyne’s departure was announced on April 4.

Kevin De Bruyne’s incredible numbers with Manchester City

The 33-year-old’s deal with City expires in the summer. He has won 16 trophies with the team, including six Premier League crowns and the Champions League. Two FA Cups and five League Cup victories have been among the other achievements.

In 417 games, the Belgium international has scored 107 goals. He flourished after joining the team under former manager Manuel Pellegrini in 2015 for £54.5 million from Wolfsburg before Pep Guardiola took over as manager the next year.

He is without a doubt one of the most important players of the Premier League era and has solidified his status as one of the best in City’s history and the league’s as well.

When De Bruyne revealed he was leaving City after almost ten years there, many were taken aback. It’s unclear if the Belgian international would join Aston Villa this summer, like Marcus Rashford of Manchester United, or another team after the reigning Premier League winners declined to extend his contract.
