Villa have turned their fortunes around despite a sluggish start to the season.
Tonight, in-form Aston Villa will host Young Boys at Villa Park for their most recent league phase match in an attempt to bolster their chances of earning automatic last-16 qualification in the Europa League.
Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery has led his club to nine wins in their past 11 games in all competitions. This is after they had a dismal start to the 2025–26 season, failing to win any of their first six games.
Young Boys, who are participating in European competition for the third consecutive season, have had a mixed start in the league phase, winning and losing two each of their first four games. However, they are still in the running to make it to the Europa League round of 16.
The Young Boys are now preparing for their 14th European competition matchup with English opponents. The Swiss team have only won twice in their previous 13 games (D2, L9). Those wins came against Tottenham in August 2010 and Manchester United (2-1) in September 2021.
Apart from that, they have failed to defeat an English team on the road in six prior efforts (D2, L4).
