Spanish side are looking to find replacement for Alvaro Morata.

Atletico Madrid are now advancing in talks to sign Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez, who is understood to be open to leaving City for more game time.

The striker has revealed in many interviews that he may decide his future this summer, and many clubs have lined up to sign the forward. Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and now the Spanish club will try their luck.

Alvarez, 24, has scored 36 goals in 103 games since joining the Premier League champions in the summer of 2022 from River Plate. But the Argentine has not been a regular starter for Pep Guardiola’s side as Erling Haaland is ahead of him in the pecking order.

The former River Plate striker has won every possible trophy at club and international level, which has cemented his position as one of the most talented strikers in Europe. But a lack of minutes at City could see the player opt for a new club where he can be a starter.

However, Manchester City won’t certainly make it easy for other clubs to sign the player. They are expected to set a massive price tag. Atletico Madrid have also been pushing to sign Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher. But their key dilemma is replacing Alvaro Morata, who joined AC Milan.

They see the Argentine as the ideal player to replace the Spanish striker in the summer. It is believed that the Spanish club are willing to make financial efforts to sign the striker. But a personal agreement in order to land the talented player will also be required to make the efforts worthwhile.

Meanwhile, for Alvarez, remaining at City won’t be a wise decision given Guardiola will obviously prefer Haaland over him. Perhaps he could play behind the striker role, like last season when Kevin de Bruyne was injured before the start of the campaign.

Julian Alvarez is just 24 and has a long career ahead of him. He has a big decision to make. It remains to be seen how things will pan out and what the future holds for the highly-rated Argentine striker.
