The Argentine forward is open to a move away from the Sky Blues.

Atletico Madrid are in advance talks to sign Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez, who is said to be open to leaving City for more game-time. Diego Simeone’s side are set to explore their No. 9 options as Alvaro Morata is nearing a move to AC Milan.

They have Samu Omorodion, 20, who enjoyed a productive season on loan at Granada in LaLiga. But, it seems unlikely that he is ready to play for the senior team this upcoming season. Hence, Atletico Madrid are looking for a more seasoned striker.

Man City certainly won’t let Julian Alvarez leave easily. They are aware of the Argentine’s quality and would want to keep him despite having Erling Haaland, who is an assured starter for most games.

Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are the other clubs also keen on signing the striker. City will hope to recoup a larger fee than what they paid River Plate to bring him to Etihad Stadium. Last season, Alvarez scored 19 goals and provided 13 assists across all competitions.

For a striker who is a second-choice at City and also happens to produce this level of performance, he deserves more game-time.

The former River Plate star is assured to be the first-choice striker at Atletico Madrid. But, the kind of money City would be asking for is probably beyond the LaLiga team.

After joining City, Alvarez won the treble in his debut campaign. He has two Premier League titles under his belt already. With the summer transfer window ongoing, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 24-year-old.

Other potential departures from Pep Guardiola’s City could include custodian Ederson. The Brazilian is reported to have consented to a move to Saudi Arabia, with the Suadi Pro League side Al-Nassr ready to splash €50m for him.
