Australia announce squad for March international break; Maty Ryan included

The Socceroos will face Indonesia and China in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
For the pivotal World Cup qualifying matches against China and Indonesia in March, the Socceroos have selected a 26-man roster.
With four countries on six points, Australia are only one point clear of bottom-place in the standings, despite holding second place in their World Qualifying group.
Tony Popovic’s team needs to accumulate points in order to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada. China and Indonesia are two of the teams with six points.
On Monday, March 20, the green and gold are scheduled to face Indonesia at the Sydney Football Stadium. On Tuesday, March 25, Australia will travel to Hangzhou to play China.
The Subway Socceroos’ match against Indonesia will mark their first visit to the recently renovated Sydney Football Stadium in almost ten years. Their most recent game there was a FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifier against the United Arab Emirates in March 2017.
Four players—Alex Grant of Sydney FC, Ryan Teague of Melbourne Victory FC, Kai Trewin of Melbourne City FC, and Nectarios Triantis of Hibernian FC—will have the chance to earn their first Socceroos appearance.
Despite not being a certain starter for Melbourne Victory, Daniel Arzani unexpectedly secured a spot on the Australian team.
