Das Nationalteam won Group D and advanced to the Euro 2024 knockout stages after a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Netherlands at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on Tuesday.

The Oranje and contenders France were drawn together in a difficult group for Ralf Rangnick’s team, but they managed to earn six points out of a possible nine to top the standings, surpassing Les Bleus, who were unexpectedly held to a 1-1 draw by Poland, who were already been eliminated.

Following an initial loss to France and a 3-1 victory over Poland, Austria captain Marcel Sabitzer grabbed a winner in the 80th minute to seize first place after they had twice squandered the lead against Netherlands.

Although this will be Turkey‘s first meaningful match with their opponents since a 0-0 tie in Euro 2012 qualifying, the team have won all five of their previous meetings against them and maintained a clean sheet.

In their last Group F match on Wednesday night, the Crescent-Stars upset Czechia 2-1 to guarantee their spot in the round of sixteen. Veteran striker Cenk Tosun scored in stoppage time of the second half to give his team the victory.

Despite knowing that a point would suffice and having a man advantage for the majority of the game, Vincenzo Montella’s team’s progress was placed in peril when they conceded shortly after Hakan Calhanoglu’s piledriver put them ahead in the 51st minute.

Turkey eased past Czechia and finished second in their group to secure a place in the last 16.
