Baller League: Fixtures, schedule, teams, managers, rules & where to watch

Baller League is back in the UK with Season 2.

Baller League is back. Many big influencers and pro football stars from top clubs will participate in the six-a-side competition in season 2.

Here is all you must understand, starting with the fixture calendar and format, to new managers like Daniel Sturridge and Idris Elba.

What is Baller League? Who founded it?

Felix Starck, an entrepreneur, founded the six-a-side indoor football league known as the Baller League in Germany with assistance from Mats Hummels and Lukas Podolski.

Former Premier League stars, futsal players, and celebs compete against one another. 12 teams to compete for the Baller League in this influencer-led league, which is hosted by KSI in the UK version. To decide the final four, each team competes for 11 weeks. The champion is determined by a final four play-off, with two semi-finals setting up the final.

How does it work?

Twelve players, chosen through a Ballers League draft, are available to each squad, and each half lasts fifteen minutes.

The attacking team is given a penalty (’90s MLS-style!) if the ball goes behind and off the opponent three times, as there are no corners. New rules are imposed for the last three minutes of each half.

These ‘gamechangers’ include a 3 vs 3 structure, goalkeepers not being able to use their hands, and long-range goals scored from behind the offside line counted as double.

The top four clubs in the league standings will compete in the semi-finals. The final will ultimately determine the winner after games are played every Monday for 11 weeks in a row. Sharky’s SDS FC lifted the trophy in the inaugural season following a 4-3 victory over MVPs United in the championship game.

What’s different this time in Baller League?

Chloe Kelly’s Clutch FC, Idris Elba’s Rukkas FC, and Niko Omilana’s NDL FC are among the new teams that have joined the league in the second season.

Daniel Sturridge, a former England striker and Sky Sports pundit, will be joining Micah Richards as manager of Deportrio FC, so there will be another new face on the sidelines.
