Ballon d'Or 2025: Everything you need to know

The 2025 Ballond’Or ceremony is set to take place tonight.

Football’s brightest stars will be on display at the Ballon d’Or 2025 event, which will also honour the season’s best players.

The 69th iteration of the distinguished honours, which will take place on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, promises glamour, excitement, and international attention.

As elite players, coaches, and football luminaries come, the red carpet opens earlier. The event starts at 7:00 PM BST (8:00 PM CET, 3:00 PM ET).

American broadcaster Kate Scott and Dutch legend and 1987 Ballon d’Or winner Ruud Gullit will co-host this year’s tournament. The partnership with France Football and UEFA heightens the opulence and guarantees a celebration of both individual skill and the spirit of football as a whole.

Known for its artistic and cultural significance, the Théâtre du Châtelet, which has hosted the awards since 2019, is the ideal setting for football’s most glitzy evening.

Men’s Ballon d’Or: For 2024–2025’s top male football player. Top female football player wins the Women’s Ballon d’Or (Féminin).

Men’s and women’s Kopa Trophy: Best young player under 21. In 2025, the Women’s Kopa Trophy will make its debut.

Men’s and women’s Yashin Trophy: Best goalie. This year, the women’s category was added.

The Gerd Müller Trophy, which has been extended to women’s football, honours the top scorer in club and international competitions.

Johan Cruyff Trophy is awarded to the best coach in both men’s and women’s football.

Club of the Year: A recognition of the season’s top-performing women’s and men’s clubs.

The Socrates Award honours footballers’ social impact and recognises their humanitarian efforts off the field.

1. Individual Performance: Outstanding influence and decisive contributions.
2. Team accomplishments: Trophies earned with the national or club squad.
3. Class and Fair Play: Professional accomplishments, style of play, and sportsmanship.

Who are the favourites for the Men’s Ballon d’Or?

Ligue 1 Player of the Year, Ousmane Dembélé, of Paris Saint-Germain, contributed to PSG’s treble, with 35 goals and 16 assists.

Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal will be contending with Dembele after leading Barca to two trophies last season. He was also the leading figure for Spain.
