The 69th iteration of the awards will be held on September 22, 2025, a full month earlier than the previous year, at the magnificent Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.

When will the 2025 Ballon d’Or nominees be announced?

The Ballon d’Or committee convened at the Hotel de Crillon in Paris after the FIFA Club World Cup to deliberate and choose the men’s award nominees.

On August 7, those names will be made public so that the voting panel can start selecting the player they believe to be the finest in the world.

The names for the women will be decided and announced once the 2025 Euros and the Copa America are over, as those competitions are still in progress.

Voters will have lots to consider until 22 September 2025, when those names are also anticipated to be announced on August 7.

Who is the favourite to win the Ballon d’Or 2025?

It should come as no surprise that the majority of the favourites for the men’s award are Paris Saint-Germain players, who completed the treble with a resounding victory over Internazionale, finally breaking their UEFA Champions League curse.

As a result, likely, Vitinha, Ousmane Dembele, Nuno Mendes, Achraf Hakimi, and Gianluigi Donnarumma will be included in the 30 nominations.

Since Barcelona completed the domestic double and advanced to the Champions League semi-finals, there will probably be notable Barcelona players as well. Of particular note are Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, who were outstanding all season long.

Cole Palmer has moved up in the hierarchy following Chelsea’s 3-0 thumping of PSG in the Club World Cup. His brace and assist earned him Player of the Match to add to his collection, and he also won it in the UEFA Conference League final.
