Barcelona fear AS Monaco may ditch €11m Ansu Fati buy option: Report

The Blaugrana provided the winger with his first contract in July 2019.
After the LaLiga giants, Barcelona, were unable to provide the required play-time to Ansu Fati, the Spanish winger went on to join the Ligue 1 side, AS Monaco, on loan at the beginning of the 2025-26 season. He has also extended his contract with Barca till the 2027-28 season, as announced by LaLiga.
This loan deal also comes with an option for Les Rouge et Blanc to sign the winger if he performs well in the French league. Since the beginning of the season, the 23-year-old has come up with some good and consistent performances for Monaco. This caught the eye of many people.
Those performances were also a good sign for Barcelona, as they raised their chances of striking a deal with the French club for €11 million. This can prove to be a good deal for the Blaugrana. But there has been a problem; if developed will then change the mind of AS Monaco to sign Ansu Fati next summer.
Worrying situation for Barcelona

Recently, AS Monaco have replaced Adi Hutter with Sebastien Pocognoli as their new head coach. Since the appointment of the head coach, there has been a massive dip in form for Ansu Fati.
Under Hutter, the 23-year-old looked lethal with his improved physical condition. It was proving as a new start for Fati. He scored six goals in just five matches, with an average of one goal every 41 minutes. The La Masia forward started slowly, but later looked like a full force at AS Monaco.
Things have started to go down for Ansu Fati since Pocognoli took over. The new tactical approach by the new Belgian coach has affected his form in a bad way. The Spaniard has failed to score a goal in any of his last six games for Les Rouge et Blanc.
Moreover, Fati has just been on the pitch for 55 minutes in the last three fixtures for Monaco. This has now become an issue for Barcelona, who were looking to execute a deal for the 23-year-old with the French club.
Ansu Fati’s Rollercoaster Future
The current dip in form means the French club will reconsider the signing of Ansu Fati if things remain the same.
The international break has come to an end. Till the Christmas break, the 23-year-old has the time to get back to his form. AS Monaco will consider signing him if things get back to normal during this phase.
The ongoing campaign helped Fati to begin his senior career with full force once again. It will also be up to Sebastien Pocognoli to include him in the lineup for the next few matches. If this move fails, Barcelona will seek a new destination for the player.
