Hansi Flick confirmed he doesn’t want to risk the forward.
When it comes to the recuperation of some of their injured players, Barcelona have not benefited from the international break this time.
Although there was some initial hope, it appears that Hansi Flick won’t have Lamine Yamal available when Barcelona travel to play Celta Vigo this weekend. Marca claims that Flick does not want to take any unwarranted chances with his young player, who has emerged as one of Europe’s top performers.
Yamal missed the game against Real Sociedad due to an ankle ailment, marking his second consecutive absence. A game in which Robert Lewandowski’s goal was controversially ruled offside, costing Barcelona the victory. Flick has few choices up top because Ansu Fati was injured after Real Sociedad’s defeat as well.
The good news for Barcelona is that Lewandowski, who was sidelined for Poland’s international match due to an injury of his own, will be available. He made a full recovery and ought to be ready for Saturday’s game.
Flick is left with the expected offensive trio of Lewandowski, Pau Victor, and Raphinha, who played both games for Brazil during the international break. Flick would have probably selected Ferran Torres to play on the right, but he is still recuperating from a hamstring injury.
Lewandowski’s goal against Real Sociedad was disallowed, and Barcelona didn’t seem to have many offensive ideas. The game might have turned out differently if the goal had stood, requiring the home team to equalize. Flick chose to deploy Fermin Lopez on the wing with little success once Yamal was sidelined.
In order to give Barcelona a stronger attacking presence on the right and relieve some of the pressure on Jules Kounde, who had a quiet game in the defeat, Pau Victor might be considered for a starting position.
Regarding Yamal, Barcelona are appropriately handling the 17-year-old. He might be available for the UEFA Champions League match against Brest in the middle of the week if all goes according to plan.
