Barcelona prepared to make Marcus Rashford loan deal permanent: Report

The English forward joined Blaugrana on loan ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Marcus Rashford was once regarded as a top talent for Manchester United. He was a consistent performer since his academy days. He debuted for the Red Devils in 2015 and was an important part of the squad.

Even though the club failed to register a single league title since then, Rashford’s performance and place were never a doubt.

However, things got difficult in recent times, a drop in his performance made his spot as a starter not secure since the 2023-24 season. After Ruben Amorim was appointed as the manager of the Premier League giants, he made it clear that Marcus Rashford was not a part of his plans going forward.

The Englishman has a contract with Manchester United, which will expire in 2027. Looking at the situation, the LaLiga giants Barcelona signed Rashford on a loan for one year. He was registered in the top-tier Spanish football league at the end of August 2025.

The 27-year-old had a slow start to the season, but has slowly picked up the pace. The current Barca manager, Hansi Flick, has also complimented the recent performances by Marcus Rashford.

As per some reports, the German head coach has made up his mind and wants the Englishman to stay with the Catalan giants after his loan deal expires.

Barca enthusiastic about keeping Marcus Rashford

The loan agreement for the England International includes a special clause. A non-binding £30 million ($40 million) option gives the Spanish giants first dibs on keeping him permanently when the loan wraps up. This is a clause which is going to keep things flexible for both sides.

Manchester United are keen on selling Marcus Rashford before his contract with them expires in 2027. As per the current scenario, a deal with Barcelona can be a permanent ultimatum to this situation.

The Blaugrana might come up with a deal at a lower price than expected. They are preparing to open negotiations at £26 million ($35 million) with Man United, according to the latest reports by Estadio Deportivo.
