The Brazilian has netted three goals since joining Santos.
According to the Sport, Barcelona officials have handed Brazil star Neymar an ultimatum amid rumors that they wish to re-sign him.
The report, which was perceived as being close to the club, stated without naming its sources, “We will consider signing you after you first score 15 goals for Santos.”
After a brief injury-plagued stint at Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, Neymar returned to his boyhood club, Santos, in Brazil in January.
After winning the Champions League with Barcelona in 2015, the 33-year-old pushed for a transfer and moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 in a still-record €222 million ($231 million) transaction.
For almost 18 months, the Blaugrana have been hinting that acquiring a good left winger is their top transfer goal. Dani Olmo arrived last summer as part of their unsuccessful bid to sign Nico Williams, but it seems their interest in the Basque winger has waned.
Since joining Santos, Neymar has played in seven games, tallying three goals and three assists. The 33-year-old seems to be getting back to his best at Santos, and if he continues this form, barring any injury, then he will certainly go on to score more than 15 goals.
The seasoned forward’s contract is only valid until the summer, so he could sign with Barcelona for nothing. Given their salary cap predicament, that could be the deciding factor.
However, further reports add that the former Paris Saint-Germain star is ready to reduce his salary in order to propel a return to the Catalan club in the summer.
Neymar has had a lot of injury problems lately; he played in a little over 20 games in 2023 and 2024, mostly because of a cruciate ligament problem.
Barca have also been linked to moves for Liverpool winger Luis Diaz and AC Milan star Rafael Leao, who are rumored to be eager to join the club.
