Kante currently plays for Saudi side Al-Ittihad.

This summer, FC Barcelona have dealt with a wide range of transfer targets and rumours. The Catalan giants have a manageable budget assigned to them. But it also appears that this has piqued the curiosity of the rumour mill. On the other hand, it appears that Barcelona are still having a lot of problems.

At first, it was Barcelona’s intention to try to sign a midfield player this summer. Regretfully, that wish has not materialised so far. It seems that even the team’s most recent midfield target—despite his own attempts to do so—will not be joining Barcelona.

Not too long ago, N’golo Kante, a French defensive midfielder, was connected to Barça. The former Chelsea star was one of the cheap options Barcelona were supposedly previously considering.

Although there haven’t been any action on that interest thus far. The most recent development regarding this transfer operation indicates that Barcelona are the one holding it up. Mundo Deportivo claims that Barça controlled every aspect of the operation but Hansi Flick prevented Kante from arriving.

Despite Kante’s undeniable talent, the German coach feels that the team should depend more on its youth than on bringing in a more experienced player. Marc Casado and Marc Bernal both seem to be valued by Flick, based on their recent good performances.

The 33-year-old Al-Ittihad midfielder, though, hopes to make a comeback to European football. The athlete wants to leave Europe and return to the highest level. N’golo Kante has only played one season in Saudi Arabia. It is still evident that he possesses the necessary skills as demonstrated by his performances in the European Championship.

Regretfully, it doesn’t seem likely that he will be able to accomplish it with Barcelona. Considering the inclinations of the Barcelona head coach, it seems that the club’s finances are currently better focused somewhere else, with Hansi Flick showing greater concern for the team’s younger players.
