The German star was expected to ink a new deal with Bayern.

According to SportsBild, Joshua Kimmich’s time at Bayern Munich has entered a crucial stage after Bayern Munich withdrew their contract offer for the midfielder following the club’s board meeting.

The 30-year-old midfielder was reportedly told earlier this week that the club’s prior offer was no longer viable, and Bayern bosses were becoming irritated with Kimmich’s protracted silence.

After Kimmich’s impressive performances this season, the club offered significantly better conditions, even though their first goal was to lower his wage, which was expected to be over €20 million annually.

Following a discussion of Kimmich’s contract status at the quarterly supervisory board meeting on Monday, the offer was withdrawn.

Negotiations are still continuing on, so the possibility of an extension is not completely gone, but it’s uncertain if the parameters of any future agreement will align with the withdrawn offer.

Bayern is frustrated by the player’s hesitancy, and instead of pursuing contract specifics, the team is now seeking a fundamental decision from Kimmich.

Since joining Bayern in 2015, Kimmich has made 426 appearances, scoring 43 goals and dishing out 114 assists. Joshua Kimmich, a midfielder for Bayern Munich, was anticipated to extend his contract with the team.

It was anticipated that Kimmich would sign a high-level contract with the team and extend his contract until at least 2028. According to reports, the two sides were nearing the end of their talks, and Bayern were awaiting the midfielder’s final approval.

Real Madrid and other teams expressed interest in the 30-year-old, but no other club made any kind of approach or proposal.

But now that contract negotiations have abruptly changed course, numerous clubs will be alerted as they will queue up in the race to sign the German midfielder.

Kimmich has been Bayern’s stalwart and has spent most of his playing career there and now he could be on his way to leaving the club if the contract talks don’t take any positive change. The German midfielder joined Bayern in 2015 and has been with them since, while his deal with the Bundesliga giants will end after the end of the season.

In June, he will become a free agent, meaning that any team can sign him for nothing. It would be interesting to observe whether Kimmich accepts Bayern’s updated offer, which appears to give lower wages than the better agreement that was previously withdrawn.
