The Red Devils earned first win in Euro 2024.

Following goals from Youri Tielemans and Kevin De Bruyne on Saturday, Belgium defeated Romania 2-0 to get their Euro 2024 campaign back on track. This victory opened up Group E.

The opening goal for Belgium was created by Romelu Lukaku, who set up Tielemans for a wonderful shot from just inside the area in the second minute.

Throughout a well-executed Belgian display, De Bruyne had opportunities. With ten minutes remaining, he doubled the lead after latching onto a long pass from custodian Koen Casteels and finding the back of the net from seven meters out.

De Bruyne who completed the triumph as the Red Devils added to Youri Tieleman’s goal in the second minute guaranteed a four-way shootout on the final day for Group E.

Even with the ideal start, De Bruyne and his teammates have repeatedly been let down by a string of opportunities that were missed.

Romelu Lukaku, who had tucked home from an outstanding De Bruyne ball, was also miffed at the VAR panel in Leipzig for the THIRD time in two games during a night of wild entertainment.

However, with ten minutes remaining, De Bruyne was the first to respond as Keon Casteels’ goal kick rebounded into the Romania area and hit the goal just before Florin Nita, the custodian, poked it in.

Tedesco’s bold decisions in selecting the magician from the City were validated as it was a suitable conclusion to his majestic performance.

The manager made four changes, benching Leandro Trossard of Arsenal and bringing back experienced Jan Vertonghen of the previous Spurs, to shake things up.

It also implied a more senior role for De Bruyne. And that journey paid off 73 seconds after match began.

All four of the teams in Group E will have three points heading into Wednesday’s championship games, which will see Romania play Slovakia and Belgium play Ukraine.
