Benfica exploring six-month loan move for Joao Felix ahead of 2025 FIFA Club World Cup: Report

The Portuguese winger is currently on loan at AC Milan.
As per Portuguese outlet Record, Benfica are looking to sign João Félix on a six-month loan deal and hope to have him for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
The 25-year-old, who had a lengthy transfer drama with Atletico Madrid, joined the Blues this summer for approximately £46.3 million.
He has, however, had difficulty getting playing time in the league and has mostly participated in the League Cup and the Europa Conference League.
Felix appeared to be an ideal fit for the number ten spot in Enzo Maresca’s 4-2-3-1 system, but he is relegated to a bit-part role because Cole Palmer was way ahead of him in the hierarchy.
This meant that Felix joined AC Milan on loan in the January 2025 transfer window from Chelsea.
Not unexpectedly, there are now rumours that he is linked to his boyhood club, Benfica. Felix made his professional debut and advanced through their youth divisions, before eventually making a €127 million transfer to Atletico.
Benfica, on the other hand, have given Sporting CP a tough fight in the Primeira Liga after Ruben Amorim’s move to Man United, and are in contention for the league trophy.
Felix will probably seize the opportunity to play regular first-team football. He has to play and show his abilities immediately because he hasn’t been able to get a starting position at any of the teams he has joined since leaving Benfica.
Chelsea, however, could not be willing to allow the attacker to go, but given they have enough players for use in the Portuguese’s position, they could give it a second thought.
Felix, who is currently on loan at AC Milan, and there the forward has made nine Serie A appearances, making only an assist, which is a disappointing sign as the Blues were hoping that he would improve during his loan spell at the club.
Given that Felix has been sub-par, the Blues would rather want to get rid of him permanently, and Benfica could bring him to the club in the summer.
