Top five best attacking midfielders of 2025-26 season ft. Bruno Fernandes & Nico Paz

This list features some of the biggest prospects in world football.
Despite the claims and beliefs that the attacking midfield or number 10 role is a dying breed in football, there are some top footballers at the moment who impress us every time they enter the field.
Here we have ranked the top five best attacking midfielders of the ongoing 2025-26 season:
5. Nico Paz

Stats (all competitions)
- Matches: 27
- Goals: 9
- Assists: 6
So far in his two seasons with Como, Nico Paz, who is most likely going to play for Real Madrid next term, has emerged as one of the attacking Midfielders in Serie A.
The 21-year-old left the Bernabeu for Italy in 2024 and has been an incredible success under manager Cesc Fabregas. He consistently contributes to Como’s offence, makes exquisite passes, and scores incredible goals that seem to be going out of style.
He has nine goals and six assists to his name in 27 appearances across all competitions this term.
4. Rayan Cherki

Stats (all competitions)
- Matches: 33
- Goals: 9
- Assists: 9
In the summer of 2025, Rayan Cherki joined Manchester City at the age of 21. He had already been a member of Lyon’s first squad for six years, but a run of exciting performances domestic and in the Europa League, during the 2024–25season catapulted him to stardom.
Days after he made his senior international debut for France, City signed him as soon as the transfer window opened, and he has only thrived under Guardiola. He is second in the assists list of the Premier League this term with seven to his name and has also chipped in with three league goals.
3. Fermin Lopez

Stats (all competitions)
- Matches: 30
- Goals: 10
- Assists: 12
Fermin Lopez is another exceptional player who has had a spectacular impact since moving up from La Masia to the Barcelona first team.
Although he has a stellar scoring record, Lopez excels at smart running and relentless pushing. At 22, he has established himself as a key member of Flick’s Barcelona team by fusing technical skill, refinement, and relentlessness.
He can win the ball from an opponent in one move and score from a distance as he boasts excellent shooting technique. He will be a key player for the club as they look to win all the trophies available this term.
2. Dominik Szoboszlai

Stats (all competitions)
- Matches: 35
- Goals: 10
- Assists: 7
Dominik Szoboszlai of Liverpool, before assisting Leipzig win back-to-back cups in Germany, the Hungarian attacking midfielder advanced through Liefering and Salzburg in Austria. Under Arne Slot, Szoboszlai contributed to the Reds’ 2024–2025 Premier League title, scoring double figures in goals throughout the campaign.
Although Szoboszlai is one of Europe’s most dreaded long-range shooters and has a reputation for scoring stunning goals, his midfield passing and defence attributes are as important. He has featured on the wing, right back and all over the pitch this season and still looked the best player on the pitch for the Reds.
1. Bruno Fernandes

Stats (all competitions)
- Matches: 25
- Goals: 6
- Assists: 13
Bruno Fernandes has stood head and shoulders above his teammates as one of the only players deserving of wearing the Man United shirt during a slump for one of the greatest teams in the world.
Playing in every midfield position, Fernandes has proved Manchester United’s most dependable supplier of goals and assists for years. The captain is asked to lead by example rather than take the lead.
Despite starting the season in a defensive midfield role, he is still leading the assists charts in the Premier League with 12 assists to his name. He has been in top form ever since Michael Carrick took over the club.
