Best FIFA Football Awards: List of all winners
Best FIFA Football Awards take place every year for both men and women.
FIFA, the organization that oversees football, presents the Best FIFA Football Awards every year. Over the years many players have won the prize following their impressive performance for club and country.
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo remain the only players to win the award on more than one occasion. Both stars have gone head-to-head for the accolade several times during their playing career in Europe.
However, the former Barcelona player holds an edge with the most awards for the Best FIFA Men’s Player compared to Ronaldo’s two. Meanwhile, other winners have been Luka Modric and Robert Lewandowski.
The last player to win the award is Messi who led Argentina to the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The forward was handed the prize in 2023 beating the likes of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.
We take a look at the List of the Best FIFA Men’s Player winners.

Selection process for Best FIFA Women’s Player award
Both sports performance and overall behaviour on and off the field are taken into consideration when choosing the players of the year.
Media members, national team coaches, and national team captains cast their ballots. The announcement that the general public would also be able to vote was made in October 2016.
Alexia Putellas is the only Women’s football player to have won the award twice, while the rest have won once. Putellas won the prize in a row following her impressive performance for Barcelona‘s women’s team.
She could once again win the award but it’s going to be very unlikely as her teammate Aitana Bonmatí will compete with her for the accolade.
