The Reds’ striker tragically passed away in a car accident.

Following the terrible death of Diogo Jota in a car accident in Spain, the football community is in shock.

Diogo Jota, who joined Liverpool from Wolves in 2020, became a fan favourite. He very quickly played a significant role in the team’s success under manager Jurgen Klopp. Following the exit of Roberto Firmino, the Portuguese was influential in the club’s accomplishments and scored many goals.

But his untimely passing has taken fans aback, and the entire football world is united and mourning in grief at his passing. He has left us with many memorable moments at Liverpool. In this piece, we have listed best moments of his Liverpool career.

5. Jota’s dream debut vs Arsenal (September 2020)

Jota scored in his Premier League debut for Liverpool in September 2020, giving him the ideal start to his Anfield career. In the closing moments of the game, when Liverpool were ahead 2-1, he came off the bench and scored a spectacular goal to seal all three points.

Jota was at the edge of the box when David Luiz cleared a corner only to find him. After controlling it with his chest, he launched a volleyed shot that passed Leno with ease.

4. Jota’s first hat-trick for Liverpool (November 2020)

Jota made his European debut a few weeks after joining the Reds with an incredible hat-trick against Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League. Fans got a preview of what was to come with his fast speed, deft movement, and clinical finishing.

Three goals were scored. A wonderful dink over the goalkeeper in the first. A fantastic first touch and volleyed finish in the second, and a spectacular run that beat the goalkeeper and ended up in the empty net in the third.

3. Jota’s memorable goal vs Manchester United (March 2021)

Jota led a comeback for his side against Manchester United in 2021 after the Reds fell behind 1-0 early in the match. It was his incredibly deft flip finish that gave the Reds the equaliser. They won 4-2, scoring three more goals after the massive goal.

For Liverpool’s hopes of finishing in the top four, the victory was crucial.

2. Brace vs Arsenal in League Cup semi-final (January 2022)

When Jota was at Liverpool, he clearly enjoyed playing against Arsenal. Jota scored seven goals and provided five assists in 16 outings versus the Gunners in all competitions. This featured a brace in the League Cup semifinal in the 2021–22 campaign and another against them in the Premier League in the 2020–21 season.

In addition to helping Liverpool reach the finals and ultimately win the tournament, the semi-final performance was more significant. It saw him fill in for Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, who were unable to play because of AFCON duties for their respective national teams.

1. Winner vs Tottenham Hotspur (April 2023)

He scored a spectacular goal in stoppage time to help Liverpool defeat Tottenham in 2023. That was one of his best games for the team. Tottenham put up a strong battle to tie the score after Liverpool had taken a three-goal lead in the first quarter. Richarlison gave Spurs the equaliser in the ninetieth minute.

Jota scored a thrilling goal in the 94th minute, seconds after Tottenham equalised, just as they believed they had earned a point.
