These players will mark a new era for Slovakian football

Slovakia are on the rise thanks to Francesco Calzona’s method which has brought the best out of the players. They are set to play in Euro 2024 after securing their place from the qualifierd. They will face Belgium, Romania, and Ukraine in Group E.

Slovakia have some of the best players in their squad who play for some of the best in Europe. Players like Skriniar and Lobotka will lead the team’s charge in this year’s edition. Slovakia do have a good mixture of experience and youth which can benefit the team going forward in the tournament.

5. Lukas Haraslin

Lukas Haraslin plays club football for Sparta Prague with whom he enjoyed a fantastic season. He scored 16 goals during the 2023-24 campaign and added 6 assists to help the team. He is a good striker is expected to play a crucial role for Slovakia in the upcoming matches.

Haraslin has already appeared for the national team 36 times since making his debut in 2019. He is one of the potent threats in the squad who has the clinical ability to take chances for the team. 

4. Ondrej Duda

Ondrej Duda is a dynamic midfielder who is known for his tenacious work in the heart of the midfield. He is a versatile player who can play any position in the midfield according to the needs of the team. Duda plays his club football for Hellas Verona in Serie A with whom he had a successful season on a personal level as he was one of the top performers in the team.

He made 32 appearances for the team scoring one goal and assisting a further four. He has developed an excellent partnership with Lobotka in the heart of the midfield which will be crucial for the team. 

3. Martin Dubravka

Martin Dubravka is one of the most experienced players in the Slovakia squad who has played for some of the best teams in Europe. He currently plays club football for Newcastle United with whom he made 23 appearances during the 2023-24 season keeping four clean sheets.

He also saved a penalty as he possesses the skills to become a hero in the penalty shootout. Dubravka is an excellent shot-stopper who does his role effectively despite playing second fiddle in his club. He has already made 42 appearances for the national team since breaking into the side in 2013.

2. Stanislav Lobotka

Stanislav Lobotka is an excellent midfielder who has impressed for Napoli and Slovakia in the past couple of years from the heart of midfield. He is technically sound and is excellent at controlling the tempo of the game. His best trait is his ability to play one-to-pass in pressure situations to convert them into attack.

Lobotka is not known for his goal-scoring ability as he hardly scores any goals. He has already appeared for the team in 68 matches scoring three goals. 

1. Milan Skriniar

Milan Skriniar is probably the big game player for Slovakia who has been one of the best center-backs in Europe over the years. After playing six wonderful seasons at Inter Milan, he made the switch to Paris Saint Germain in the summer.

After being sidelined due to injuries in the opening season, he bounced back strongly to make 24 appearances for the team this season. Skriniar is a ball-playing defender who is comfortable with the ball at his feet. He can also become a threat from set-pieces as his tall physique makes him a potent weapon in this kind of situation.
