These free agents will be hoping to find a club before the start of the new season.

The summer transfer window is currently in full swing, and many clubs in Europe have been dealing with the signings and sales of players.

Meanwhile, many players’ contracts with their former clubs have expired, turning them into free agents. Their futures now remain uncertain as the summer window progresses

Eleven players remain without a club after their contracts expired, and they are actively searching for new teams before the new season begins

Some of these free agents have already been linked with potential moves to plenty of top sides. Here’s a closer look at the key names still available on the market.

Best free agent XI available on free transfer this summer

  • GK: Wojciech Szczęsny
  • RB: Nélson Semedo
  • CB: Axel Witsel
  • CB: Victor Lindelöf
  • LB: Nicolás Tagliafico
  • CM: Marco Veratti
  • CM: Thomas Partey
  • CM: Luka Modric
  • CAM: Thomas Muller
  • ST: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
  • ST: Jonathan David

As of right now, Wojciech Szczesny is a free agent. The 34-year-old veteran Polish goalie is now without a club, at least officially, as his contract with FC Barcelona is coming to an end. Szczesny has apparently been in talks with Barça for weeks, despite the lack of a formal declaration, which has led to a variety of rumours regarding a possible renewal.

The Premier League and other clubs are quite interested in the Argentine Nicolas Tagliafico in the current transfer window, and it remains to be seen where he will end up.

Since the deal is not being extended, Axel Witsel is departing from Atlético Madrid. Now that he is a free agent, it is unclear where he will go.

Victor Lindelof, the most important player leaving United on a free transfer this summer, has had a pretty uneventful eight years at Old Trafford.

Given that Nelson Semedo, a right-back, is rumoured to be returning to Portugal, Wolves could lose half of their top players.

Will Marco Verratti return to Europe for one last time or accept more money in the Middle East? After making absurd wage expectations, Arsenal gave up on Thomas Partey. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have been linked.

Thomas Muller will leave Bayern Munich as a free agent after the Club World Cup, and has been linked with many clubs, but currently his future is uncertain.

Igli Tare, the sporting director of AC Milan, has stated that Luka Modric has verbally committed to joining the Serie A team. “I met him face-to-face and observed a man who is very keen to compete.”

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is reportedly of great interest to Tottenham and Manchester United. He will probably be able to choose from a number of mid-table Premier League teams on a free transfer.

According to ESPN, Juventus have reached an agreement to sign Canadian international Jonathan David from Lille on a free transfer, and it appears that he has found the back.

Following their 1-0 loss to Real Madrid and elimination from the Club World Cup, the striker came to a financial arrangement with the Turin team.
