These players can elevate themselves to superstardom.

The European Championship has long been a launching pad for football’s next generational talents to announce themselves on the global stage. With Euro 2024 already underway in Germany, fans across the continent are eager to see which skilled youngsters will use the big tournament to elevate themselves to superstardom.

Over the years, rising stars like Cristiano Ronaldo have made their mark at the Euros before going on to greater heights.

This year’s edition has no shortage of potential young icons ready to burst into the mainstream. Here are the top 5 talents to watch for breakout tournaments at Euro 2024:

5. Arda Guler (Turkey)

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder opened lots of eyes with his performances for Real Madrid in his first season after joining from Fenerbahce. Guler’s outstanding dribbling ability and quick feet make him a handful for defenders. He has had 6 strikes in just 330 minutes of league play, including a brace against Villarreal. Having already earned 6 caps for Turkey, the talented teen seems primed for a big tournament.

4. Lamine Yamal (Spain)

At just 16 years old, Yamal has already re-written record books as the youngest scorer for Barcelona, in La Liga, and for the Spanish national team. The explosive winger’s searing pace and incredible composure in front of goal make him a nightmare for defenders. His unique ability to create chances virtually out of nothing could make him Spain’s wildcard attacking weapon.

3. Xavi Simons

The versatile 21-year-old is a product of the famed Barcelona academy La Masia. Simons’ game is built on the classic “Total Football” principles of being able to operate anywhere on the pitch. His technical ability, vision and work rate make him adept at keeping possession and creating chances from various attacking positions. If given freedom to roam, Simons could unlock defenses for the Dutch.

His guile and creativity in the final third could provide the spark to ignite the tournament host’s attack as they look to end a 28-year wait for European glory.

1. Jude Bellingham (England)

After a stunning debut season at Real Madrid with 23 goals across all competitions, the 20-year-old Bellingham has rapidly become one of the most coveted talents in world football. His exceptional technique, game intelligence, and leadership qualities belie his young age. Bellingham’s box-to-box dynamism and goalscoring ability could make him the driving force if England are to claim their first-ever European championship.
