Boca Juniors FIFA Club World Cup 2025 squad: Sergio Romero & Edinson Cavani included

The Argentine club will begin their competition journey against SL Benfica.
Miguel Ángel Russo’s official Boca Juniors squad for the FIFA Club World Cup has been confirmed. Former Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani is set to travel with the team for the Club World Cup 2025.
The addition of reinforcements, Malcom Braida and Marco Pellegrino, who were revealed today, is the major story.
However, only a few days before the 2025 Club World Cup begins, they have also suffered a significant blow: Ayrton Costa will not be included in the team travelling to the United States.
Due to an ongoing criminal case from 2018 involving an attempted robbery that is currently pending a final probation ruling, the U.S. Embassy rejected his visa application.
Boca’s official team list contained the left-footed defender, who was training in Buenos Aires with the hopes of winning. The team even requested special consideration from FIFA, but all attempts were unsuccessful.
Now that Marco Pellegrino is injured and Costa is absent, coach Miguel Ángel Russo must reorganise the defence. When Boca Juniors play Benfica on Monday, June 16, to begin their campaign, Marcos Rojo is anticipated to be the backline’s anchor.
Mateo Mendía, a young player, may also fill in as a centre-back on the left. Rojo, Mendía, Figal, and newcomers Malcom Braida and Pellegrino are among the 35 players in Boca Juniors’ final roster for the Club World Cup.
