Brazil group revealed for FIFA World Cup 2026

The Seleção were drawn in Group C!
The eagerly awaited FIFA World Cup 2026 draw has finally come to an end. Brazil, the only team to have featured in every World Cup so far, have been placed in Group C along with the African heavyweights Morocco and redemption-seeking Scotland and Haiti.
Here is a deeper look at who Brazil will face in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, notable players in the qualifiers and their history in the World Cup.
Opponents in the Group Stage

From Pot 2: Morocco
The Moroccan Football Team were the history makers in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, becoming the first ever African country to reach the semi-final stage of the World Cup. The Atlas Lions were also the first African team to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Morocco will face Brazil in the first match of Group C. Morocco qualified by achieving a perfect winning record and topping CAF Group E.
From Pot 3: Scotland
Scotland returns to the global stage after a long wait of 28 years. Despite featuring in the tournament eight times, the Tartan Army were unable to get past the group stage in any of them.
After a long drought of struggling to get into any major tournaments, Scotland qualified for the last two UEFA European Championships before qualifying for the FIFA World Cup. They qualified, finishing as runners-up in their UEFA qualification group, winning their playoff final against Norway.
From Pot 4: Haiti
Haiti have appeared once in the FIFA World Cup history, 52 years ago, where they became the first Caribbean country to feature in the FIFA World Cup. Although they have not qualified for the World Cup since then, they have remained a powerful force in CONCACAF.
The Les Grenadiers qualified for the World Cup, winning Group C of the CONCACAF Third Round qualifiers, topping a group that included Costa Rica and Honduras.

Head Coach and who got them here?

Brazil’s manager, Carlo Ancelotti, is considered one of the greatest managers to grace the game. Appointed on 12 May 2025, he became the first foreign coach to lead the team into the World Cup. The gaffer signed a one-year deal with the team and made his debut on 5 June, in a World Cup Qualifier against Ecuador.
However, Brazil could manage only a goalless draw. In the following game, Brazil managed to secure a 1-0 win against Paraguay, confirming their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Ancelotti has managed 8 matches so far, and has recorded 4 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses for the Seleção.
Raphinha
The Brazilian national team winger Raphinha played an instrumental role in the team’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup. He managed to score 5 goals, emerging as Brazil’s top scorer in the qualifiers. Raphinha also managed 2 assists, with the forward using his pace, footballing intelligence and physicality, crucial for Brazil’s 23rd appearance at the World Cup.
Neymar Jr

Brazilian all-time top scorer and one of the nation’s best players ever, Neymar Jr was a vital piece in the Brazilian side. The forward managed to record 5 G/A, scoring 2 goals and registering 3 assists. Neymar Jr was Brazil’s highest assist provider in the qualifiers. Neymar’s elite vision, technical ability and creativity were the much-needed flair for Brazil in the qualifiers.
How did they qualify?
WCQ Record: 8-4-6, 28 pts. / 24 GF, 17 GA (fifth place in CONMEBOL group)
The initial phase of Brazil’s CONMEBOL qualifiers was managed by head coach Fernando Diniz. But after a string of disappointing results, including three back-to-back defeats, Diniz was replaced by Dorival Júnior. However, Dorival Júnior’s tenure was brief, as the manager was sacked following a 4-1 loss to Argentina, which left Brazil struggling.
Ancelotti was signed in May 2025, where the gaffer worked on stabilising and rebuilding the side. Following a 1-0 victory over Paraguay, Brazil officially sealed their berth in the FIFA World Cup. Ultimately, Brazil finished fifth in the CONMEBOL with a final record of 8 wins, 4 draws, and 6 losses.
World Cup History
Brazil hold the unparalleled record of being the only team to feature in every edition of the FIFA World Cup. Their domination in world football began in the 1950s, when they won two back-to-back World Cups under Pele in the 1958 and 1962 editions.
The Seleção further cemented their status by winning their third title in 1970. After a drought of 24 years, they won their fourth title in 1994 under Romario. Their latest World Cup victory came in 2002, when Ronaldo guided Brazil to their fifth World Cup victory. With a runners-up finish in 1950 and 1998, Seleção historically remain one of the powerhouses in World Football.
