Selecao get their first win of the World Cup 2026.

Brazil knocked out Haiti from the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 3-0 victory. It could have been a bigger win if they had shown more energy in the second half.

Matheus Cunha got things started when he replaced Igor Thiago in the starting lineup, propelling Brazil ahead with a gritty beginning. A magnificent finish made it two for him and Brazil. Minutes later, Vinicius Junior added a third with a great one-on-one with the custodian.

Five key takeaways

5. Brazil fielded their oldest team in World Cup since 1962 final

Selecao starting lineup for their second World Cup 2026 group stage match against Haiti consisted of some of the oldest players. With an average of 30 years and 190 days, the South American giants fielded their oldest FIFA World Cup starting lineup since the 1962 final against Czechoslovakia.

4. Rayan sixth youngest player to play for Brazil at World Cup

Rayan, an AFC Bournemouth winger, earned his FIFA World Cup debut for the national side in Philadelphia. He came off the bench as a substitute for the ailing Raphinha. At 19 years and 320 days old, he became the sixth-youngest player to ever play for the Seleção during the tournament.

Rayan, who joined the Cherries from Brazilian side Vasco da Gama in January, scored five goals and assisted twice in 13 Premier League outings in his rookie season.

Endrick made his official FIFA World Cup debut. He came on as a substitute for his side in their Group C game against Haiti in Philadelphia.

The 19-year-old was introduced into the game in the second half as Selecao aimed to dominate the group stage. Endrick scored just 13 minutes after coming on as a replacement, but the goal was disallowed due to offside.

2. Brazil uses two players under age of 20 for the second time in history

Endrick and Rayan, both teenagers, were the only players under 20 to play for Brazil versus Haiti in the FIFA World Cup 2026 group stage. Both came in as substitutes in the second half of their Group C encounter against Haiti. It marked the second occasion in history that Brazil have used two players under the age of 20 in the World Cup competition.

Last time, teenagers Pele and Mazzola appeared against Wales in 1958.
