Brazil predicted lineup for Colombia clash in Copa America 2024
Brazil face Colombia in crucial game.
With Copa America 2024 quarter-final spot at stake, Brazil national football team will target nothing but victory when they face table-toppers Colombia in the final group stage game.
After a shocking draw to Costa Rica and a pleasing victory against Paraguay, have one foot already into the quarters. But, a win will guarantee them the first stop while a draw will ensure their berth further and a heavy loss can risk them out of the competition.
With that being said, let’s have a look at how Selecao would line up when they face Colombia next at the Levi’s Stadium:
Brazil’s predicted lineup against Colombia:
GK: Alisson
The champion Liverpool goalie has been the side’s first choice for some time now. The ongoing tournament has been no different. He started in both the previous matches, keeping a clean sheet in the first while facing just one in the second. The 1.93m goalie will have to stand tall to avoid any mishaps against Colombia.
RB: Danilo
The veteran Juventus defender is expected to start again just like in the previous two. He has performed his defensive duties in the best way possible in the ongoing competition. Making quick interceptions, giving short passes, or performing effortless clean tackles, the captain does it all. His runs to the front will be crucial.
CB: Marquinhos
The 30-year-old PSG captain is the best in the business. Dorival Junior will not even think about replacing the stalwart from the back-line for even once. The CB has had clean games in the previous two and will be expecting to have another game without booking in the third. His brilliance will be highly valued while facing the lethal forward line of Colombia.
CB: Militao
Real Madrid’s Militao is having a dream season. He won the La Liga & UEFA Champions League this season after missing a chunk of games owing to severe injuries. For Brazil, he has played in both the games of Copa America 2024, performing his defensive duties efficiently. Dorival will thrive on his able pair of Marquinhos & Militao at the back to protect the defensive walls.
LB: Guilherme Arana
The 1.76m LB played in the first game but was benched in the next for Wendell. He might make a return in the third one, as his presence earned Brazil a clean sheet. In the game against Costa Rica, he got entire minutes, making 76 accurate passes and winning one tackle.
CM: Bruno Guimaraes
Newcastle United’s ace CDM has shown his class in the ongoing Copa America 2024. He has been one of the brightest stars in Brazil’s lineup.
He displayed his efficiency in the opener while playing full minutes. He even pulled a couple of shots in that game. His impact was felt more in the second match, where he played for 72 minutes.
CM: Lucas Paqueta
Paqueta’s performance has dictated Brazil’s fate to a great extent in the past two games. The West Ham CAM started in both, creating multiple chances, while scoring & assisting once each. He has a 50% goal contribution for Selecao in this campaign.
CM: Joao Gomes
The Wolves midfielder performed well in the last game while was average against Costa Rica. The 1.76m CM needs to up his game against Colombia as they would look to give challenge from counter-attacks developing from the midfield.
RW: Savio
The youngster has gained the trust ahead of many stalwarts present in the formidable Brazil squad. He couldn’t do much from the right in the first game as he got only 20 minutes but made justice to his quality in the last game, creating a threat to Paraguay’s back-line & even scoring a goal without any assist.
CF: Vinicius Junior
One of the most sensational & talented players in the world today, Vinicius is carrying his good form in Copa America 2024 too. He scored a goal in the Paraguay game & will be looking to strike more in the Colombia one. However, he needs to keep his behaviour right as he is already on a yellow.
LW: Rodrygo
The sensational Real Madrid winger hasn’t done much in the competition despite getting to play almost full minutes. The Colombia game would be another opportunity for him to prove his worth. However, Raphinha might steal some minutes from him or Savio as the game progresses.
