Brighton injury update ahead of Manchester City clash; Pervis Estupinan ruled out of season

Pervis Estupinan set to miss rest of season with calf injury
There is an injury update for Brighton as manager Roberto De Zerbi delivers another disappointing news in the press conference. Before Brighton’s match against Manchester City at the Amex, the head coach of the Albion team announced that Evan Ferguson and Pervis Estupinan will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2023–24 campaign.
A calf injury will keep Estupinan out of action for the next six games, capping three seasons of disappointing play in England.
In September, the left-back was initially declared out. Less than 20 minutes into his comeback in November during the 2-0 victory away at Ajax, he collapsed once more.
In December, Estupinan made a second appearance. With the exception of two spectacular goals against Stoke City and Spurs, he hasn’t looked like the guy who enthralled fans at the Amex in 2022–2023 since then.
Ferguson has also had difficulty since the beginning of the year. In November, Brighton defeated Nottingham Forest 3-2 away from home, scoring his final goal in any tournament.
It’s amazing how quickly some Albion supporters dismissed Ferguson after that, but it’s also absurd. Teenagers are known to experience performance peaks and troughs.

De Zerbi said: “He felt pain in the ankle a lot of time and he tried to move on, to play with pain. But at the end, he preferred to stop and to think about next season.”
However, Ferguson would benefit from an enforced sabbatical given that his confidence seems to be ebbing in recent weeks.
This makes sense, as the Albion’s chances of making Europe are dwindling with each passing game. Rather than beating Estupinan and Ferguson to death with the goal of placing in the top seven, it would be preferable to have them rested and prepared for 2024–25.
Adam Webster has fully recovered from his injury, according to De Zerbi. Considering Webster’s form issues this season, taking on the massive Abu Dhabi Sportswashing project hardly looks like a lift.
