The United stalwart was not seen in training days ahead of the blockbuster game.
Four Manchester United players, including Bruno Fernandes, weren’t seen during practice just days before the team’s match against Liverpool. According to the BBC, head coach Ruben Amorim also gave Matheus Cunha, Amad, and Casemiro time off.
It’s unclear if the coaching group is simply juggling their individual schedules after the October international break or if the quartet’s absence was caused by physical concerns.

Despite a two-goal advantage, Brazil lost to Japan after defeating South Korea in a friendly match. Portugal are still close to World Cup qualification. Bruno Fernandes was instrumental in his team’s victory over Ireland before Hungary held them to a 2-2 draw.
When United travel to Anfield, they hope to win consecutive Premier League games for the first time this season and for the first time under Amorim. They earned a respectable draw last season, but victories against the red side of Merseyside have been scarce in recent years.
Other players’ injury update at United
Noussair Mazraoui, who has been sidelined for the last two games due to what has been characterised as a slight injury, is probably going to be out. Although Lisandro Martinez missed training as well, the Argentine is getting closer to making a comeback following extensive knee surgery.
United are currently in the midtable after losing three of their first seven games of the Premier League season. Two of the defeats have occurred against teams in the top six, against Manchester City and Arsenal.
They will travel to Anfield to play a team that had lost their last three games before the international break. The Reds were defeated by Chelsea, Crystal Palace, and Galatasaray; however, all three games were away from home.
Since September 2024, Liverpool have not suffered a Premier League defeat at Anfield.
