Burkina Faso announce squad for AFCON 2025; Bertrand Traoré included

The Stallions will play their first game of AFCON 2025 on 24th December.
Brama Traoré, the coach of Burkina Faso, has revealed his final 25-man roster for the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. This team will comprise both new players hoping to make an impression on the continental scene and seasoned internationals.
As they aim for a deep run in the competition, the Stallions, who are placed in Group E with Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan, will try to build on their recent impressive AFCON results.
Traoré prioritises positional strength and competitiveness throughout all departments, resulting in a balanced core of native talent and pros from Europe.
Burkina Faso have chosen to submit 25 players, three fewer than the 28-player maximum, indicating confidence in a close-knit team.
The team has a mix of youth and experience. Soufiane Farid Ouedraogo, Kylian Baasba Nikièma, and Koffi Kouakou Hervé will compete for the starting position in goal.
Yacouba Nasser Djiga, Edmond Faycial Tapsoba, and Abdoul Rachid Ayindé are among the defensive line members responsible for maintaining a strong backline.
Ismahila Quédraogo, Gustavo Fabrice Sangaré, Stéphane Aziz Ki, and Mohamed Zougrana, among others, give strength in the midfield. Meanwhile, a combination of experienced and up-and-coming players make up the attack.
Alongside Georgi Minoungou and Ousséni Bouda, the line is led by Bertrand Isidore Traoré, Bi Kalou Cyriaque Irié, and Lassina Franck Traoré. Burkina Faso are now concentrating on their last-minute preparations for the continental competition.
