The Clarets host Sunderland in their second league game.

A couple of fitness boosts have been given to Burnley ahead of their second game of the Premier League 2025-26 against Sunderland at home.

After earning a promotion back to the Premier League, the Clarets suffered a heartbreaking defeat in their opening match of the season, as Tottenham Hotspur beat them 3-0.

Now Scott Parker’s side will hope to bounce back in their second game of the league when they host Sunderland, who registered an impressive victory over West Ham United.

Before the game, Parker has provided some major updates going into the match after speaking to the media.

Both longtime absentee Bashir Humphreys and Axel Tuanzebe have resumed training after being unable to play against Tottenham in last week’s season opener.

Meanwhile, Armando Broja has advanced more this week and might be ready to make his Burnley debut.

Parker provides Burnley injury update & more

During the pre-match press conference, Parker responded as follows when questioned whether any of his injured players would make a comeback this weekend:

”Some are back training. Axel (Tuanzebe) is back training. (Bashir) Humphreys is back training. He won’t be ready for this weekend. The likelihood is [that] Connor will probably feature back after the international break. He’s had an injection, and things seem to be progressing in the right way.”

‘’Armando is now another week down the line, so he’s got some more work in which I am really pleased about. He is edging to possibly being involved at the weekend.’’

In other news, Connor Roberts is still out despite improving after a knock, and Jordan Beyer and Zeki Amdouni are still out due to injury. Lesley Ugochukwu, who just made the bench against Spurs last week, might also get his first start.

Parker has a reputation for being cautious when bringing on new players, making sure they are proficient before integrating them.
