Canada announce preliminary squad for FIFA World Cup 2026 ft. Alphonso Davies

Canada are one of the co-hosts of the 2026 World Cup.
Canada announced on Monday that 32 players will travel to Charlotte for a pre-World Cup training camp. They will begin their World Cup with their opening game against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12 (BST).
Many names have been included in the provisional roster, which will be trimmed down to the 26-man squad in the coming days.
For the first men’s World Cup held at home, the group will be reduced to 26 players by Friday. Alphonso Davies is on the list as real preparations start. This is despite doubts in Germany that FC Bayern Munich will release the great left-back and captain of Canada’s national team before the World Cup.
”These are the final days before we announce the squad that will represent Canada at a home World Cup, and the excitement in this group is real. We feel the momentum building across our country, and we are calm, focused, and ready for this moment,” said Canada’s head coach Jesse Marsch in a press release.
On May 29, TSN will reveal the official national team for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The team will travel for pre-tournament send-off games against Ireland on June 5 in Montréal and Uzbekistan on June 1 in Edmonton after training camp.
