At the Copa America 2024, Canada and Chile play their last Group A match with both sides fighting for a chance to advance. Although they haven’t played at their best yet, Ricardo Gareca’s men need to step up and get the desired outcome now that they have no choice.

Canada recently defeated Peru 1-0, their first win over a South American team in 24 years. Jonathan David scored the game’s lone goal midway through the second half and his side managed to hold on for the victory.

After losing to defending champions Argentina 2-0 at the start of the campaign, Canada recovered well with this victory. The Reds had a man advantage for most of the second half and were however unable to extend their lead. Head coach Jesse Marsch will be happy with the outcome anyway.

After a draw in their initial match, Chile lost 1-0 against Argentina, meaning they are still without a victory at the Copa America 2024. They managed to stave off the defending champions for extended stretches before giving up a late winner.

Despite the fact that the Chileans are still winless, manager Ricardo Gareca believes his team should have gained more from their games.

When the stakes are high big players tend to step up, and Chile will try to get Alexis Sanchez to light the flame amidst the current darkness. The forward is Chile’s all-time top scorer, so it might be wise to get him back on the scoring track.
