The Portuguese centre-forward seems destined to reach 1,000 career goals.
Cristiano Ronaldo has the support of Carlo Ancelotti to score 1,000 goals in his career. The 40-year-old former Real Madrid hero continues to score goals for both club and country. The Italian coach, who won several trophies during his two stints as Real’s manager, is still in awe of his longevity and hard work ethic.
The legendary Portuguese player just scored his 953rd career goal in a 2-0 victory over Al-Hazm while playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. His current contract expires in 2027, giving him plenty of time to pursue the ideal achievement.
Carlo Ancelotti is confident that Ronaldo will score 1,000 goals

In an interview with AS, Ancelotti expressed his confidence that Ronaldo would continue to shine into his 40s, much like his former Madrid teammate Luka Modric, who is presently playing well for AC Milan.
“Cristiano Ronaldo will reach 1,000 goals, for sure. But when he does, he shouldn’t forget to invite me to the celebration of that incredible record.”
After their combined years of success at Real Madrid, where they won the UEFA Champions League in 2014, Ancelotti has a great deal of respect for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Italian has frequently attributed Ronaldo’s consistent success to his professionalism and unwavering hunger.
Beyond Madrid, the two have maintained their mutual regard. Ronaldo continues to motivate athletes worldwide, while Carlo Ancelotti has shifted to guiding Brazil toward the 2026 World Cup trophy.
Ancelotti wants to bring back Brazil’s grandeur, while Ronaldo wants to establish himself as the most prolific goal scorer in football. Both men are pursuing one last legacy.
Ronaldo, who currently has 143 goals for Portugal, has stated that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be his last international competition.
The seasoned forward, who will turn 41 when the competition starts in the US, Mexico, and Canada, recently said to CNN: “Definitely, yes. I believe that this will be the pivotal time in the major competition when I turn 41.”
