Carlo Ancelotti names one Real Madrid player who performed well in 5-2 defeat against Barcelona

Mbappe’s goal was not enough to save his side from embarrassment.
Carlo Ancelotti made a damming assessment of his team’s performance and blamed every player except Kylian Mbappe in his interview with the media following the match.
The Italian was not happy with the way his side performed as they were crushed by their LaLiga rival Barcelona 5-2 in the Spanish Super Cup. It was another embarrassing defeat for the Los Blancos against Barcelona this season.
However, Mbappe who was playing his second El Clasico stood out in the eyes of Ancelotti as he scored an opening goal before Barcelona commenced their goalscoring streak at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Saudi Arabia.
The Frenchman appeared to be the only threat who caused some sort of problem to Barca’s defence and created some big goalscoring chances.
However, it was not enough as other Real Madrid stars failed to step up as the Spanish capital suffered massive defeats and Ancelotti had none of that from his player, as he commented:
“The only thing I save is Kylian Mbappé and his very good game, he did very well. For the rest… we’ve been bad today. We must look ahead”.
Only Mbappe had his head held high after putting his utmost in the game but it was not enough to save Madrid from embarrassment as Barca ripped their defence apart and were rampant in the attack.
The Los Blancos found it hard to break Barcelona’s defence as Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo failed to step up on one of the biggest occasions, and the Brazilian was later replaced as he couldn’t make any meaningful difference.
Mbappe led Real’s attack for the evening and could have had a hattrick in the game but Wojciech Szczesny and Inaki Pena denied him plenty of times.
But Ancelotti’s words also make sense as how Barca easily overran Real’s defence will be the biggest concern for the club and this could force them to look in the market to reinforce their defence if they want to avoid such defeats.
