Neymar Jr of Brazil

The Brazilian didn’t like being asked about Neymar once again.

Ahead of the 2026 World Cup, Neymar’s injury problem continues to dominate headlines. However, Casemiro made it plain that the Brazil team is sick of talking about the superstar forward all the time and wants the attention to stay on his recuperation.

Questions over Neymar’s physical state continue to dominate Brazil’s 2026 World Cup preparation camp, but this time it was Casemiro who addressed the matter and tried to allay the mounting anxiety around the Santos star.

Casemiro did, however, express some annoyance at the continuous media attention that is only centred on Santos’ star, stating that almost every news conference eventually devolves into a discussion about the Brazilian superstar.

“Once again, we come here and all we have to talk about is Neymar, Neymar, Neymar…”

“I think Neymar is a player like everyone else in the squad, an important player among the other 26.”

Casemiro’s remarks followed the confirmation by Brazil national team physician Rodrigo Lasmar that the 34-year-old sustained a Grade II calf injury, which is predicted to keep him out of action for two to three weeks.

The attacker may miss the warm-up games against Panama and Egypt, as well as Brazil’s World Cup opening match against Morocco on June 13, due to the injury, which has caused anxiety throughout the camp.

However, Carlo Ancelotti’s coaching staff is still hopeful that the attacker will be able to recuperate in time to play a significant part in the tournament.

Beyond the physical issues, Casemiro highlighted Neymar’s impact within the team due to his leadership abilities and global experience.

The midfielder clarified that because of everything he has gone through during his career at the top level of world football, the forward contributes vital energy and confidence to the team.
