Chelsea's all transfers completed so far in 2024-25
The Blues are enjoying yet another active summer transfer window.
Premier League giants Chelsea have already commenced their pre-season tour in the United States this summer in order to prepare for the upcoming 2024–25 season.
After five managerial sackings to date in the Todd Boehly era of the club, Enzo Maresca was appointed as the sixth different Chelsea head coach during the summer. The 44-year-old Italian put pen to paper on a five-year contract until June 2029.
After a mixed-bag campaign under former manager Mauricio Pochettino last season, the Chelsea hierarchy have tried to make the right investments available on the market in order to get the historic club back to the pinnacle of domestic and European football.
The Blues are once again enjoying an active transfer window, which has proven to be a consistent theme under the new ownership. The club’s transfer strategy primarily focuses on talented youngsters with high potential.
The biggest signing for Chelsea so far has been that of dynamic midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City. The 25-year-old Englishman played an instrumental role in Leicester’s Championship-winning campaign last season. Dewsbury-Hall made a staggering 49 appearances across all competitions, recording an incredible 12 goals and 15 assists in the process.
The latest addition to the club’s goalkeeping department was Danish shot-stopper Filip Jørgensen, who joined on a permanent deal from Villarreal. In the 2023-24 season, Jørgensen enjoyed a breakout campaign, making 37 appearances for the Spanish side across all competitions and registering six clean sheets in the process.
Chelsea also signed a host of upcoming highly rated talents for the long-term project of the club, which included the likes of Marc Guiu, Caleb Wiley, Omari Kellyman and Renato Veiga, for a total transfer package close to €53 million.
At the start of the summer, the Chelsea board completed the shrewd signing of Tosin Adarabioyo, who joined the club as a free agent following the expiration of his contract at Fulham. The rock-solid defender was one of Fulham’s best players last season.
On the other hand, Chelsea have also generated substantial revenue from outgoing transfers in order to comply with the stringent Profit and Sustainability Rules of the Premier League.
The biggest departures of the transfer window so far for the club have been the sales of their talented academy products Ian Maatsen and Lewis Hall to Aston Villa and Newcastle United respectively, for a combined deal worth around €78 million.
Following a successful loan spell at Ipswich Town last season, versatile winger Omari Hutchinson joined the Tractor Boys on a permanent deal this summer.
Fringe squad players such as Hakim Ziyech and Malang Sarr have left the club as free agents on the expiration of their contracts to join Galatasaray and RC Lens respectively.
After four incredible years at Chelsea, veteran defender Thiago Silva also departed the club as a free agent on the expiration of his contract to sign for his boyhood team Fluminense in Brazil.
With Chelsea far from done in terms of reshaping their overall squad, further potential incomings and outgoings are expected in the remainder of the summer transfer window.
