The Argentine is yet to extend his contract with Roma

Amidst demands for additional experience to be introduced to the squad, Chelsea continues to be linked to a transfer for World Cup champion Paulo Dybala prior to the summer transfer window.

Since Todd Boehly and Clearlake acquired control of the team in May 2022, the Blues haven’t been afraid to spend money. They have twice spent more than £100 million on a single player.

Even though Chelsea are expected to focus on a striker, centre defender, and left-back this summer rather than an offensive midfielder, Paulo Dybala is still being connected to the team once more.

As the season draws to a close, football writer Rudy Galetti came to X to offer an update on the 30-year-old’s future.

Galetti claimed that the Blues and Barcelona, the dominant team in Spain, had communicated and gathered some “preliminary information” regarding the prospect of signing the AS Roma player.

Paulo Dybala is supposedly still waiting to start talks with the team about a new contract, as his current one with the Italian team expires in 2025.

The cost of luring Dybala away from the Giallorossi is currently unknown, but if a team is successful in signing him, their success will depend greatly on his calibre and expertise.

According to reports, Dybala’s contract has a mere €12 million release clause that is good for clubs outside of Italy till the end of July. But Dybala would undoubtedly provide Chelsea’s youthful team with the additional authority and experience that both the management and the supporters have been requesting.

Given their recent agreement with the Serie A team for striker Romelu Lukaku, the Blues may believe they have a better chance of landing Dybala than their competitors.

Since the Argentine doesn’t suit the age profile the Blues had been aiming for under Boehly, any possible approach for him would be a departure from the club’s transfer philosophy.
