Amorim will commence his United managerial career in mid-November.

Before Chelsea’s visit to Old Trafford, Enzo Maresca sent a direct message to Ruben Amorim, Manchester United’s new manager, and revealed that he has watched Sporting CP games. He has also backed the Portuguese manager to excel at United.

Erik ten Hag was fired by the Red Devils on Monday, and 39-year-old Amorim was named their new head coach.

However, Amorim won’t be in the dugout soon as Rudd van Nistelrooy will take on his old Malaga colleague Maresca in Sunday’s match against Chelsea.

Man United and Sporting agreed to these criteria while discussing compensation, and Amorim will begin his tenure at Old Trafford following the November international break.

“Rúben Amorim will do great job at Man United. I have watched many Sporting games and know the way they play. It’s a fantastic style, how they defend, the way they attack so for sure, I don’t have any doubt that he’s going to do a great job,” said the Chelsea boss.

Since Maresca was formerly employed by Man United’s rivals, Man City, the manager is well-versed in northern living and the demands placed on the football team.

The Italian delivered Amorim an honest message ahead of Chelsea’s visit to Old Trafford, one that the Blues supporters might not have anticipated.

Although Chelsea supporters might not have anticipated seeing their head coach praise their rival team’s upcoming coach. Under Maresca, the Blues have played excellent football and seem to be heading towards the right direction.

They will face a struggling United, who have fared poorly this season. But given they will face a different side under Nistelrooy, the Italian coach will urge his side to not underestimate United, who beat Leicester City 5-2 in the EFL Cup Round of 16.

The Blues are currently sixth in the table and a win will see them climb to third place, five points behind Liverpool who are at the top of the table.
