Chelsea handed Cole Palmer injury setback as English star ruled out until next international break

The forward is nursing a groin injury.
Cole Palmer was subbed off the field after 21 minutes in last weekend’s loss to Man United, having only made his return from the same injury in the 2-2 draw at Brentford on September 13.
He also missed the Blues’ midweek 2-1 Carabao Cup victory against Lincoln City, which sparked concerns that he would be sidelined for some time. Palmer also did not attend Chelsea’s open training session on Thursday.
But now the star has been ruled out until next international break as the club have decided to rest him, as revealed by Enzo Maresca in his pre-match press conference.
Further evidence is provided by the fact that he was forced to be removed after 21 minutes of play after being hurried back from a groin issue to play against Manchester United over the weekend. Palmer’s involvement was considered a gamble worth taking, even if he was only partially fit.
Chelsea have struggled without Palmer in games

Since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in September 2023, Palmer has been the team’s primary source of creativity and a goalscorer.
The move was incredibly wise because of the ÂŁ42.5 million transfer fee, which is a small portion of its current value. In 98 Premier League games, he has contributed 58 goals (38 goals, 20 assists), which is a very respectable return.
In short, without him, Chelsea produces fewer goals, scores fewer goals, and wins fewer games.
As he tries to balance domestic matches while competing in European competition for the first time, Maresca is facing the most difficult balancing act of his managerial career. This is fresh ground. That doesn’t give much time for pregame strategy on the training field.
Meanwhile, Palmer’s injury severity remains unknown after the forward missed training ahead of the Brighton & Hove Albion game, and it is unclear how long he will be sidelined with a groin injury.
When will Palmer return to playing again?
Palmer has been ruled out until the next international break.
How many goals has Palmer scored this season?
