The Blues are looking to secure a Champions League spot.

This weekend, Chelsea will host Manchester United on Saturday night. The Blues will be guaranteed a position in Europe’s top competition next season if they place fifth or higher in the Premier League. They will need to put in some effort to get back into contention.

The Blues’ performance under manager Liam Rosenior has dwindled. They have lost four of their last five league games. Just six games remain to move up the table and avoid playing in UEFA’s second or third-tier competition next season.

They are now in sixth place, four points behind Liverpool who are in fifth. Chelsea will be keen to have several important players back to full fitness in order to maximise their chances of winning their crucial match against the Red Devils. Before the crucial match at Stamford Bridge, the most recent Chelsea injury news is as follows:

Jamie Gittens (hamstring) is playing his first season at Chelsea. Rosenior has stated that there is now no timeframe available for his return after suffering another setback in his recuperation from his most recent ailment.

Expected return date: May 4th vs Nottingham Forest.

After sustaining a severe ACL injury last summer, Levi Colwill hasn’t played this season. But he is at least back to full training. He won’t be pushed back into action.

He might make one or two brief appearances before the campaign ends.

Expected return date: 26th April vs Leeds United.

Trevoh Chalobah (ankle): The Blues will greatly benefit from his return to training as they attempt to strengthen their back line. After spending half of the previous season on loan at Crystal Palace, the Cobham academy product was called back to the team and is again seen as a vital member.

Expected return date: May 4th vs Nottingham Forest.

Reece James (thigh): A string of regrettable injuries has hindered James’ career thus far. This season, he appeared to be back to his best, but before the most recent international break, he experienced yet another setback. He might return against Leeds United in the FA Cup, but the Blues might decide to be cautious and hold off a bit longer.

Expected return date: May 4th vs Nottingham Forest.

Filip Jorgensen (groin): It’s difficult to argue that Jorgensen should be Chelsea’s starting goalkeeper for the upcoming campaign. He recently underwent groin surgery. As of right now, he won’t return until next month.

Which injury has Reece James suffered?

Thigh injury.

When will Reece James return?

He is expected to return on May 4th vs Nottingham Forest.

Where do the Blues stand in the table?

They are sixth in the Premier League table.
