The Blues will face Wolves in the EFL Cup’s round four.

Chelsea fans will be relieved to hear that Liam Delap is fit to play in their game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night.

Enzo Maresca broke the positive news ahead of the game. It’s huge news for the West Londoners who have struggled to win matches in the league this season.

Maresca’s side will return to action tomorrow night after suffering a 2-1 setback in the Premier League against Sunderland, which saw them fall to ninth place.

Enzo Maresca confirms Liam Delap is available for the EFL Cup game

They will face Wolves in the EFL Cup fourth round and will have their summer signing available for the game. Delap was sidelined for months with a hamstring injury.

“Liam [Delap] is available for the game,” Maresca told reporters during his pre-match press conference.

“He completed the whole session with us yesterday with no problems, and he is available for tomorrow.”

“We have to be careful with Liam and [it’s unlikely he will play] 90 minutes, no. He’s been out for two months, so he needs to be gradually brought back up to 100 per cent.”

The young English centre-forward pulled his hamstring in 14 minutes into Chelsea‘s 30 August game against Fulham, which the Blues won 2-0.

After their disappointing 2-1 defeat against Sunderland, Maresca stated that Delap could be fit to play against Wolves in the EFL Cup.

Despite Liam Delap’s absence, the Blues did have Joao Pedro. Pedro operated as the striker. However, he has only managed two goals in nine appearances since moving to Stamford Bridge.

Maresca will be hoping that his side recovers from the defeat to the Black Cats and returns to winning ways. Their erratic form has affected their place in the league standings and could also harm their goals of winning any trophy this season.

Meanwhile, Liam Delap’s return will give Maresca more options in the centre-forward position. The Italian coach will hope that the former Ipswich Town star once again adds the firepower in the assault.

He suffered a hamstring injury.
