Chilwell has been told that he is not part of the Blues team this season.

Manchester United have been given a chance to sign Chelsea out-of-favour full-back Ben Chilwell this summer. This is good news certainly after the injury to Luke Shaw. Chilwell is not in Enzo Maresca’s plan for this season after the manager himself confirmed.

The left-back might have to find a new club before the transfer window closes. United could be a good option for the Blues player. It will allow him to transition effectively without the need to move to another country. The need to move to another country could arise if a non-England team bags his signature.

United who were without a left-back last season had to use Diego Dalot on the left side after injury to Tyrell Malacia and Shaw. The 25-year-old has not played since suffering a knee injury, while the England international has remained sidelined most of the time.

Both are still recovering from their respective injuries. Erik ten Hag has utilised Dalot as the left-back once again. United can consider signing Chilwell who will be a great backup option.

However, the 27-year-old has been injury-prone at Chelsea as well. He missed a big part of the season due to a hamstring injury. United will have to consider these things before pondering a move for the player.

Chelsea already have enough options in the left-back area after they signed Renato Veiga, who can operate as a left-back. They also have Levi Colwill who played as a left-back under Mauricio Pochettino last season.

United certainly need a left-back. They cannot rely on Malacia and Shaw, given their fitness issue. Dalot cannot be the only option as the full-back with the whole season in front of us.

Chilwell will be a decent alternative given he is Premier League proven. Under Ten Hag, the player could even make a big difference. However, as of now, nothing is concrete. United are yet to show any interest in signing the England international.
